Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes

A friend of mine searched for Womens Basketball Shoes prior to the season beginning and was unable to find a direct link to Womens Basketball Shoes. In many instances my friend could only find basketball shoes in the mens section of brand website. It made me wonder what Basketball Shoes are there for women and where do you buy them from?

Where to buy Womens Basketball Shoes? There are a number of places which an individual can purchase womens basketball shoes these include Nike, Adidas, Amazon and Acics. A number of WNBA players also have a signature shoe. Male signature shoes, such as Air Jordan, also do womens versions of their shoes.

Amazon Womens Basketball Shoes

Amazon does provide basketball shoes for women however, when you search women’s basketball shoes mens basketball shoes still appear within the search. You still have to filter down to women’s basketball shoes on the left filter section of the website.  The range is rather limited, the reason being is that most of the basketball shoes will be sold by third party suppliers. There are casual basketball shoes which you would expect to wear in social occasion. There is also very limited amount of basketball shoes which you can order via amazon prime.

Amazon would not be the first choice to go to if you were going to buy basketball shoes. It is convenient with prime next day delivery but if you want a good basketball shoes, I would recommend going to one of the main brands such as Nike or Adidas.

Under Amour Womens Basketball Shoe

In the USA you can buy Under Amour Womens Basketball Shoe however, due to distribution, Under Amour cannot sell Womens Basketball Shoes in other parts of the world. This is a real shame as in 2018, a young girl by the name of Riley Morrison wrote to Steph Curry and asked why is new shoe is not in a girls size. Steph instantly made sure that the shoe was available and got Riley to design the shoe. However, it is a shame that Under Armour has not transcended this move across the world.

Adidas Womens Basketball Shoes

Adidas produce womens basketball shoes and these are available up to size sixteen. The range of show includes the signature shoe of James Harden and Damian Lillard. Men have an option of 74 basketball shoes compared to womens 54 pairs of basketball shoes.

Do WNBA players have signature shoes?

As of October 2019, no WNBA player has a signature basketball shoe. Which is a big shame, as this is 2019 and we would expect to see a number of womens signature shoes in 2019. In the past, WNBA players have had a signature shoe sold in the past. Only 2018, Candace Parker Pro Bounce 2018 sold by Adidas however, these trainers were only available in the USA.

The Jordan range even dedicated a shoe to Maya Moore, who has won four WNBA Championships and has a huge list of achievements. The Maya Moore Jordan shoe was released in 2017.

In 1995, Sheryl Swopes was the first female athlete to have a signature shoe. This was an iconic moment and Nike produced the shoe for Sheryl. There have only been a handful of women basketball players who have had signature basketball shoes since this point.

James

A basketball court was built in my local park and at 15 years of age I fell in love with basketball. A late joiner to the game, I have played every season since. Some Indiana friends bought me some Pacers gear for my 17th birthday, and I have supported them ever since (who wants to follow the crowd). I love American sports apparel and the presentation of sports, they do it so well (bar all the advert breaks).
