Basketball is an increasingly growing sport with support coming from all round the globe. One country in particular which is seeing exceptional growth for the support of basketball and watching of the NBA is England. NBA Players from England who have played in the NBA are James Donaldson, OG Anunoby, Robert Archibald, Kelenna Azbuike, Steve Bucknall, Ndudi Ebi, Joel Freeland, Ben Gordon, Woody Grimshaw, Chris Harris, Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Admiral Schofield.
James Donaldson
James Donaldson played for 14 years in the NBA. He was drafted in the fourth round as the 7th pick in the 1979 NBA draught by the Seattle SuperSonics. Donaldson was born in the UK and gone to Washington State College. He played for the Seattle SuperSonics, The San Diego Clippers who then became the Los Angeles Clippers. In 1986 he joined the Dallas Mavericks where he played until 1992. Donaldson played one season with the New York Knicks and i’m finished up his career with two seasons at the utah jazz with John Stockton and Karl Malone.
In total Donaldson played 957 NBA games Anne had field goal percentage of .571. Donaldson had one All Star appearance.
Ben Gordon
Ben Gordon was drafted in the first round as the third pick by the Chicago Bulls in the 2004 NBA draught. Gordon played eleven years in the NBA I made his debut on the 5th of November 2004.
Gordon played for the Chicago Bulls for four seasons before moving to the Detroit Pistons for two seasons. Gordon played for the Charlotte Bobcats between 2013-2014 and finished up playing for the Orlando magic in 2015.
Gordon made the 2004 to 2005 all rookie team members voted the sixth-man player of the year for the same year. This is the first and only time and a rookie of the year has won this award.
OG Anunoby
OG Anunoby was drafted as the 23rd pick in the 2017 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors. In 2018-19 season OG was part of the Toronto Raptors team which won their first NBA title. OG is only three season into his career and he is killing it. OG is well on his way to becoming a seasonsed NBA player and is stone cold killer when it comes to buzzer beater shots.
Pops Mensah-Bonsu
Pops Mensah-Bonsu was undrafted following the 2006 NBA draft. Pops played for the Dallas Mavericks for one year, before playing a few games for the San Antonio Spurs before signing with the Toronto Raptors for the rest of the season. He played for the Hourston Rockets and New Orleans Hornets before playing in Europe.
Admiral Schofield
Admiral Schofield was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NBA draft by the 76ers but he was immediately traded to the Washington Wizards.
Kelenna Azubuike
Kelenna Azubuike made his way into the NBA via the NBA Development League, he went undrafted and was signed by the Golden State Warriors. He was then signed by Dallas Mavericks, in 2012 Kelenna was traded to the Cleveland Cavilers who waived him, bringing an end to his career.
Steve Bucknall
Bucknall played for the La LAkers in 1989-1990, he played 18 games for the Lakers.
Joel Freeland
Joel Freeland played for the Portland Trailblazers . He played 151 games in the NBA for the Portland Trailblazers and ended up with a .459 field goal percentage.
I actually played against Joel Freeland when we were seventeen. He played for a team called Thames valley tigers and I played for Kingston wildcats. I still play for kingston Wildcats and Joel has had a great basketball career. On the day we won as he missed two 360 dunks.
Robert Archibald
Robert Archibald had two seasons in the NBA but played for four teams. He was drafted in the second round by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2003 NBA draft. He played for the Grizzlies for one season. He was then traded to the Phoenix Suns, who traded him to the Orlando Magic, who was then traded him to the Toronto Raptors. He holds the record as the only Scotsman to have played in the NBA. Tragically, Archibald died in January 2020 at the age of 39.
Ndudi Ebi
.Ndudi Ebi played 19 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves. There was controversy over Ndudi playing due to the Timberwolves being penalised for making illegal trades. Unfortunaltey, this is the only time Ndudi played in the NBA.
Woody Grimshaw
Wood Grimshaw played in the NBA in 1947 who played 21 games for the Providence Steamrollers.
Chris Harris
Chris Harris played in the NBA between 1955-1957. Harris played for St Louis Hawks and then the Rochester Royals.
