Steph Curry’s Family

The love story of Sonya and Dell dates back to 1985. They met each other at the University of Virginia Tech: third-year Curry played basketball and baseball (Baltimore even chose him in the fourteenth round of MLB), and the girl had just appeared in the university’s volleyball team. The couple got together pretty quickly and legalized the relationship in 1988. Dell had already spent two seasons in the NBA by that time, while Sonya continued to study and at the same time raised Steph, who was born in March. Seth was born two years later and Sydel was born four years after Seth.

Steph is the eldest of the Curry brothers. He was born on March 14, 1988, in Akron, Ohio to Sonya and former NBA player Dell Curry. The family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when he was a child. After becoming a Davidson standout, Steph was selected by the Warriors with the seventh pick in the 2009 NBA draft. Today, he is considered one of the best shooters in the game and has won three championships with the Warriors.

Seth Curry

Seth Curry was born on August 23, 1990. As children, Dell often took Seth and Steph to his games when he played for the Charlotte Hornets, and the boys would shoot with the team during warm-ups. Seth attended Liberty University before moving to Duke in 2010. He was not drafted from college and began his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies as a undrafted signing. Seth then moved to several different teams including the Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trailblazers, Philadelphia 76ers and is currently plying his trade on with the Brooklyn Nets.

When we talk about Seth Curry, it is necessary to point out that he has improved notably since coming into the NBA. While he doesn’t tend to carry lead playmaking duties on the teams he has played for, he is exceptional shooting from deep and making the right defensive reads. He currently boasts a career 44% three-point shooting percentage, while his brother Steph holds only a 43% mark. It must be said though, that Steph takes a much higher difficulty level of shot on a regular basis – running the offense for the perennial title chasing Warriors. While Seth gets to benefit from a lot of nice catch and shoot situations, currently being generated for him by the likes of Kevin Durrant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons.

Sydel Curry

Sydel was born on October 20, 1994. The elder sister also played sports in college. She was on Elon Phoenix’s women‘s volleyball team. Her mother also played volleyball. Sydel Curry started learning the game when she was 5 years old. She served as the team captain and four-year starter for her high school team, which won two Southern Division IV titles. In 2013, Sydel was named an NSCAA High School All-American and an All-American by Parade Magazine.

When she was still playing volleyball, Sydel was leading in total assists and assists per set. She might have had a tremendous career, had it not been for injuries that forced her to retire.

When there was a marriage, the Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry built a locker room at Elon University’s volleyball court to celebrate the wedding of his sister Sydel.

The dressing room was named after Sydel Curry, who was one of the leaders of the university team. The latter married Damion Lee in 2018. The player is currently playing for the Golden State Warriors and is a teammate of Curry. Sydel Curry had several miscarriages prior to her first birth.

Curry’s Wife and Children

As we have talked about Curry’s siblings, it is necessary to say a few words about his wife and children, which massively impacted the player’s life. By the age of 30, Stephen Curry had managed to take place as a professional athlete and as a family man. In 2011, he married Ayesha Curry. His wife is a chef, cookbook author and blogger with a popular Instagram account. Her posts and photos were followed by millions of subscribers. Among them were those who are interested in the personal life of a basketball player.

There are three children in the Curry family. In 2012, the daughter of Riley was born, and in 2015, the parents announced the birth of another girl, Ryan. Aisha gave her long-awaited son Canon to her husband in 2018.

Riley Curry is perhaps most famous for her actions during interviews. When Steph was giving interviews to journalists and reporters, Riley was always by her side. She became a prominent personality at a very young age, which is noteworthy because not many children can achieve that.

Curry’s wife is one of the most famous wives of NBA basketball players. She attracts attention with her incredible devotion to Stephen, which is built on the Christian faith. Ayesha is always on the side of her husband and protects him in any controversial situation. Sometimes it attracts negativity: an opposing team fan once pushed a woman in the stomach when she was 8 months pregnant.
